The Iranian Minister of Health apologized for his deputy’s insulting remarks to a journalist.

Mohammad Reza Zafarqandi, the Iranian Minister of Health, apologized for his deputy’s insulting remarks to a journalist.

On Sunday, October 11, he wrote on the social media platform X that accountability and apology are two essential pillars of the country’s political and administrative culture and the tradition of public service.

I am sorry for what happened at the press conference of the deputy minister and apologize to the respected journalist, the media, and public opinion.

The incident began when an open microphone during the press conference of Alireza Raisi, the Deputy Minister of Health, led to the broadcast of his remarks.

Raisi, who seemed irritated by one of the journalist’s questions, told the person next to him, ‘A little brat is sitting here talking nonsense.’

He then muttered under his breath, calling the same journalist an idiot.

These remarks were made at a press conference on the topic of Mental Health Week and the Oral and Dental Health Campaign.
