Iran’s letter to the United Nations: We will respond swiftly and decisively to any attack by the United States.
In a letter to the UN Secretary-General, Iran reacted to recent remarks by the US President, calling them a blatant violation of international law and warning that any aggressive action or attack by the United States will be met with a swift and decisive response.
Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran’s permanent ambassador to the United Nations, on Monday, March 31 (11th of Farvardin), described Donald Trump’s recent statements as reckless and hostile in this letter.
He wrote that Iran issues a serious warning against any military adventurism and declares that it will respond swiftly and decisively to any aggressive action or attack by the United States or its proxy, specifically Israel, against its sovereignty, territorial integrity, or national interests.
In Mr. Iravani’s letter, referring to Mr. Trump’s interview with NBC and his statements about Iran, it is stated that such reckless and hostile remarks are a blatant violation of international law and the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, especially Article 2, Paragraph 4, which explicitly prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any country.
Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened Iran in recent weeks, stating that if the nuclear issue is not resolved diplomatically, a military option will become likely.
However, the US President, in a more warning tone yesterday, Sunday (10th of Farvardin), in an interview with NBC, said that if Iran does not reach a new nuclear agreement with the United States, it will be bombed.
