Ambrey: Iranian forces seized an Emirati oil tanker

The British security company Ambrey announced on Monday, July 22, that an oil product tanker flying the Togolese flag and managed by the UAE, carrying 1,500 tons of marine oil and gas, was seized by Iranian forces.

In this report, Ambrey states that the ship loaded marine oil and gas off the coast of Iraq and was en route to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, but was seized 61 nautical miles southwest of the Iranian port of Bushehr.

The company adds that it is unlikely this incident was politically motivated and it is not being evaluated as an act of war.

The British security company Ambrey says that this interception was likely an anti-smuggling operation by Iranian forces because the ship’s commercial behavior matched the previous targets of the forces.
