Iraq referred to the Persian Gulf as the Arabian Gulf

In the official statement of the Iraqi government’s resolutions, which was held last night under the chairmanship of Shia al-Sudani, the term ‘Arabian Gulf’ was used in the section regarding the allocation of budget to the Iraqi national team for participating in the Arab Nations Cup in Basra.

This action, ahead of the Iraqi officials’ visit to Iran, has added to the observers’ astonishment. Meanwhile, it is still unclear whether this was a typographical error in naming the Persian Gulf or if it was intentional.
