IRGC Warns of Closing Strait of Hormuz After Fresh Clash with US in Persian Gulf

The IRGC warned about the closure of the Strait of Hormuz after a recent clash with the US in the Persian Gulf.

The IRGC warned that if the US continues its malicious actions, Washington will be responsible for the consequences of a complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz on oil and gas exports, following a new exchange of fire between Iran and the US in the Persian Gulf.

These tensions began after the US military announced that it had targeted Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and Qeshm Island in response to Iranian drones being launched towards the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC also announced that it had targeted US bases in Bahrain and Kuwait with ballistic missiles in retaliation.

CENTCOM claimed that six missiles fired by Iran were intercepted and the seventh missile did not reach its target. Meanwhile, the Bahraini Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Iran’s attacks on the territories of Bahrain and Kuwait, considering it a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the two countries.

The IRGC also confirmed that it fired towards the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that this action was in response to the attempt of four violating tankers to illegally exit this waterway.

These developments occur as the Pentagon had earlier reported the seizure of a sanctioned tanker in the Indian Ocean.
