IRNA News Agency: Masoud Pezeshkian and Ali Motahari have been approved for candidacy.

An informed source, in an interview with an IRNA reporter, announced that the Guardian Council’s supervisory board has approved the candidacy of 30 current Tehran representatives for the 12th term of the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

This informed source stated that the Guardian Council’s supervisory board has been assessing the eligibility of candidates for 50 days, and emphasized that the review process has reached its final stage. In addition to approving the candidacy of Tehran representatives, a large number of candidates who were initially disqualified or had their qualifications not confirmed by the executive board have had their objections reviewed and qualifications approved by the supervisory board. Among these notable figures are Ali Motahari, Masoud Pezeshkian, Mohammad Reza Nobakht, and Gholamreza Tajgardoon.

The review of the files, based on inquiries from competent authorities and local investigations, has been completed. By the end of today, January 4th, the Guardian Council’s supervisory boards will announce the results to the governorates, and the governors will inform the candidates of the final eligibility results on January 5th and 6th.
