Isa Zarepour, the Minister of Communications, has stated that measures to protect the privacy of people’s data have been anticipated according to the leader’s fatwa.
Isa Zarepour, the Minister of Communications, a day after his controversial remarks about the slow internet speed in Iran, once again promoted the government’s plan to replace foreign platforms with domestic messengers, citing the Supreme Leader’s fatwa on safeguarding people’s data privacy.
In an interview with Fars News Agency, Isa Zarepour said that Ali Khamenei, the leader of Iran’s government, had previously issued a fatwa stating that people’s data is part of their privacy and must be protected. Accordingly, measures for protecting people’s data on domestic platforms are being anticipated in a bill that is currently being prepared.
These new statements come at a time when hacked documents from state media indicate a lack of public interest in domestic messengers. The leader of the government had also criticized officials, describing the state of virtual social networks in Iran as chaotic.
