Ismail Haniyeh: Our response to the Gaza ceasefire proposal aligns with the principles of the American plan

Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas residing in Qatar, said in a televised speech on Sunday on the occasion of Eid al-Adha that Hamas’s response to the latest Gaza ceasefire proposal aligns with the principles outlined in President Joe Biden’s American plan.

Haniyeh, referring to the exchange of Israeli hostages with Palestinian prisoners, added that Hamas and Palestinian groups are ready for a comprehensive agreement that includes a ceasefire, withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, reconstruction of what has been destroyed, and the exchange of individuals.

Joe Biden, the President of the United States, proposed a three-phase peace plan on May 31, which includes negotiations for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and a phased exchange of Israeli hostages with Palestinian prisoners.
