Israel says eight hostages who were to be released have been killed

According to the Israeli government, eight hostages who were supposed to be released in the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between this country and Hamas have been killed by Hamas.

The identities of these victims and other living hostages have not yet been announced. According to David Mansur, the spokesperson for the Israeli government, the families of the victims have been informed about the death of their relatives.

After intense negotiations, Hamas has provided Israel with a list of hostages intended for release.

So far, a total of seven hostages have been released in two phases. Last weekend, Hamas handed over four Israeli female soldiers. In the first phase, 26 more hostages are also set to be released.

On the morning of Monday, January 27, Israel announced that it expects six more hostages to be released this week following negotiations with Hamas. Accordingly, three people will be released on Thursday and three more on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that the passage for Gaza Strip residents to move north through the Netsarim crossing has been opened.
