Israel Hayom: The meeting between Trump and Netanyahu was strange and secretive
The newspaper Israel Hayom reported that the Wednesday night meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was the strangest and most unprecedented in public compared to previous meetings.
Unlike previous meetings, this session was held with deliberate secrecy and calm. No joint press conference or traditional handshake photos were released. The aim of this approach was to reduce public clamor and avoid political sensitivities related to Israel’s role in Washington.
Despite the calm appearance, the negotiations behind closed doors were intense and decisive, focusing on the Iran issue. Trump and Netanyahu emphasized continuing negotiations with Iran, and the U.S.’s stringent strategy in intelligence coordination with Israel to determine options is being pursued.
This was Netanyahu’s shortest trip to the U.S. and took place at a time when American media attention on him had decreased. Israel Hayom wrote that this meeting was more akin to a war council session than a ceremonial one, with the possibility of discussing military action options.
