The Israeli Ministry of Justice has released a list of 300 Palestinian prisoners who could potentially be released in exchange for 50 Israeli hostages.
This number is double the agreed-upon number of 150, which suggests that the release of this number of names may pose legal challenges. It is possible that the Israeli Supreme Court may oppose the release of some of these individuals as a result of complaints from individuals or organizations at the last moment.
Only about 30 individuals from this list of 300 are above the age of 18, while the rest are between 14 and 18 years old. Many of them have been charged with offenses such as stone throwing, although some are accused of attempted murder. Out of the total 300 names on this list, only 26 are female.
During the ceasefire negotiations, Hamas had demanded the release of 300 Palestinian prisoners and at least a five-day pause in the fighting. However, in the end, both sides agreed to the release of 150 prisoners and a four-day pause.
