Israel has released a list of 300 Palestinian prisoners for potential release
The Israeli Ministry of Justice has published a list of 300 Palestinian prisoners who could potentially be released in exchange for 50 Israeli hostages.
This number is double the agreed amount of 150. It seems the reason for publishing this number of names is the potential for last-minute legal challenges, as there is a possibility that the Israeli Supreme Court might oppose the release of some individuals due to complaints from individuals or organizations.
Only about 30 people on this list of 300 are over 18 years old, while the rest are aged between 14 and 18. Many of them are charged with offenses such as throwing stones, although some are accused of attempted murder. Of the 300 names on the list, only 26 are female.
During the negotiation period for a ceasefire agreement, Hamas demanded the release of 300 Palestinian prisoners and at least a five-day pause in the conflict. However, in the end, both parties agreed to the release of 150 prisoners and a four-day pause.
