Israel targeted a senior commander of Lebanese militant groups in Beirut
The Israeli army announced that in an airstrike on the Dahiyeh area in the southern suburbs of Beirut, it targeted a senior commander of the Radwan Unit affiliated with Lebanese militant groups.
In a joint statement, Benjamin Netanyahu and Yisrael Katz stated that this commander was involved in attacks against Israeli residential areas and operations against Israeli army forces.
Agence France-Presse, citing a source close to these groups, reported that Malek Balout, the operations commander of the Radwan Unit, was killed in this attack.
This is considered Israel’s first attack on Dahiyeh since the ceasefire on April 16 between Israel and Lebanese militant forces, although clashes in southern Lebanon have continued.
These groups have not officially confirmed the death of this senior commander yet.
