The municipality of Izeh attacked the ancient site of Ashkft Salman with a loader

The Izeh Cultural Heritage Enthusiasts Association reported that on the 1st of Shahrivar 1404, the city’s municipality conducted activities with a loader at the ancient site of Ashkft Salman without obtaining a permit, leading to the destruction of this 3,200-year-old site.

Zeinab Sohrabi, the head of the Izeh Cultural Heritage Department, told ILNA that the Izeh municipality’s action of encroaching on the area and boundaries of Ashkft Salman was without a permit, and we have stopped this organization’s activities.

Not even a single call was made to us by the municipality.

Ashkft Salman is one of the important historical relics from the Elamite period and has been on UNESCO’s tentative list since 2007.

This ancient site has been awaiting UNESCO’s world registration since 2007, and any tampering or alteration in its position might hinder this process.
