The JCPOA negotiations continue

Robert Malley, who in recent days and most recently on Sunday condemned the death of Mahsa Amini with his statements and supported the protests of the Iranian people, met with Qatari officials last week to initiate a new round of JCPOA negotiations. Following these talks, the special Iranian negotiating team has headed to Qatar.

The Biden team’s efforts to create a foundation for reviving the JCPOA continue, and this is happening at a time when the special position of the U.S. has been conveyed to the Iranian side, indicating there is no rush for the final signing of the Vienna agreement. Iran’s position in international relations, with its alignment and obedience to Russia on one hand and the recent internal events in Iran on the other, has given the upper hand to the U.S. and its allies.
