Josep Borrell: The Sudan crisis has no military solution

The European Union has urged the international community to make every effort to reach a political solution in Sudan.

Josep Borrell, the EU’s foreign policy chief, stated that he has been in contact with the commanders of the two military forces at war in Sudan and has made it clear that the Sudan crisis has no military solution.

Mr. Borrell mentioned that the EU ambassador to Sudan is still in the country but is not in Khartoum.

The war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces militia is fiercely ongoing in various parts of Sudan, especially in Khartoum.

Many countries are trying to evacuate their diplomats and citizens, and although many have left Sudan, a large number are still trapped in the country and have been advised to stay where they are for now.

In the past week of recent fighting, hundreds have been killed and thousands injured, with both sides using fighter jets and tanks to attack each other’s positions and facilities.
