The Judicial Commission of the Parliament will immediately announce the Hijab Bill if approved by the Guardian Council.
Gholam-Hossein Gheibparvar, the head of the Judicial Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, referring to the latest status of the Hijab and Chastity Bill, stated that the Judicial Commission has addressed the Guardian Council’s objections to the Hijab and Chastity Bill and has resent the bill to the council. We are currently awaiting the Guardian Council’s opinion.
He added that the main objections of the Guardian Council to the Hijab and Chastity Bill were related to Articles 47 to 49, which dealt with the issue of the severity of the punishments.
The head of the Judicial Commission of the Parliament emphasized that, in the view of the Guardian Council members, the crimes and punishments considered for the violations mentioned in Articles 47 to 49 of the bill were not proportional to these violations, which we have corrected in the commission.
