Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, warned on Tuesday, December 11, about the risk of sectarian violence in Syria.

She called for international powers to cooperate in aiding a peaceful transition after the fall of Bashar al-Assad.

In a meeting with EU lawmakers, Kallas said, ‘We must prevent the repetition of the horrific scenarios of Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan in Syria.’
