Kamran Ghaderi and Massoud Mosaheb have headed to Europe.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian Foreign Minister, has described the country as safe and a reliable destination for tourists, stating that if some European nationals are not exploited by foreign security services, there is no reason for their arrest.
Mr. Amir-Abdollahian made these remarks on Twitter following the release of two Iranian-Austrian nationals and one Danish national, and their return to Europe.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also referred to a phone call he had with the Belgian Foreign Minister regarding this matter, describing their conversation as positive and beneficial.
Mr. Amir-Abdollahian’s assurance about Iran’s safety for foreign tourists comes at a time when human rights activists and Western governments accuse Iran of arbitrarily detaining foreign or dual nationals on fabricated charges, effectively taking them hostage to use them for gaining concessions.
