Karim Khan was dismissed from the presidency of the Prosecutor’s Office of the International Criminal Court due to allegations of sexual misconduct.
Members of the International Criminal Court (ICC) decisively voted to remove Karim Khan, the chief prosecutor of the institution, from his position due to allegations of sexual misconduct.
Khan, who had been the third prosecutor of the International Criminal Court since 2021, was suspended last month, and now his dismissal has been approved with 82 votes in favor.
In June, the court’s oversight board announced that he had engaged in inappropriate sexual relations with a lower-level staff member of the institution and attempted to prevent the individual’s complaint from being pursued, committing a serious breach of duties and serious misconduct.
Karim Khan has denied all these allegations, and his lawyer has stated that his client will challenge the legality and fairness of this decision through all available legal avenues. It is still unclear what legal options are available to him to appeal this decision.
