Kayhan newspaper’s attack on the series ‘Khatoon’ linked it to the recent protests.

The hardline Kayhan newspaper in Tehran attacked the home series ‘Khatoon’ and linked it to the current protests.

Kayhan wrote that some scenes from home network series became propaganda tools for agitators on social media with oppositional hashtags at the start of the recent unrest.

Kayhan accused parts of this series of inciting the general public, especially women, by using the past to set goals for the future and described its dialogues as subversive.

The series ‘Khatoon’ is a historical narrative of September 1941 and the occupation of Iran during World War II by the Allies.

The main character of the series is a woman, and female fighters play a significant role in it. Some parts of the series also criticize the army’s indifference in supporting the people.

During the recent protests in Iran, clips from this series that matched the day’s events were repeatedly shared on social networks.
