Kayhan Newspaper’s Anger at National Players’ Support for the People

The Kayhan newspaper, affiliated with the leader of the Islamic Republic, harshly criticized the players of Iran’s men’s national football team on its front page, writing that those who did not sing the Islamic Republic’s national anthem are without honor.

Kayhan also wrote in its front-page article that the reason for Iran’s defeat was an unprecedented and unfair psychological media warfare against the team.

In this article, Kayhan wrote that in fact, this political media movement, mainly based in London, along with the coordination of domestic traitors from cinema and sports celebrities to chain media and Telegram channels, and even political figures claiming reformism, have joined forces to attack the players and head coach of the national team and ensure the demoralization of Iran’s national team’s technical staff and players for their opponents and essentially their employers.

Yesterday, Iran’s national football team began the World Cup with a heavy defeat, conceding six goals to England’s national team, experiencing their heaviest defeat in World Cup history.
