Keyvan Samimi was released
Keyvan Samimi, who has a history of being the managing director of ‘Nameh’ magazine and the editor of ‘Iran Farda’ publication, is also a member of the Iranian Writers’ Association.
At 74 years old, he has been a political prisoner both during the Pahlavi era and the Islamic Republic.
Mr. Samimi was transferred to Evin Prison in December 2021 to serve his two-year sentence on charges of assembly and collusion with the intent to act against national security.
These charges were related to the journalist and political activist’s participation in a protest gathering held in May 2019 in front of the Parliament building on the occasion of International Workers’ Day.
