Khurshid Jahangiri: We are facing a budget apartheid

Khurshid Jahangiri, the director of the Iranian Disability Campaign, says we are facing a budget apartheid, and with this budget apartheid, people with disabilities are being oppressed and excluded.

A group of disabled individuals gathered on Monday, February 13, in front of the Planning and Budget Organization to protest the dire living conditions and overdue rehabilitation budgets.

According to the Disability Campaign, 49% of the budgets for the Welfare Organization in social, prevention, and rehabilitation areas have not been paid so far, causing additional problems for the Welfare Organization’s target community, especially the disabled.

Many images and videos of this protest have been shared on the Twitter and Telegram accounts of the Disability Campaign. One of the slogans chanted by the protesting disabled individuals was, ‘Our shame, our shame, our budget plan’.

Other slogans such as ‘Mirkazemi, have some shame, leave the program’ and ‘Anti-disabled organization, release our budget’ were also chanted by the protesters.
