Kouhpaye Zadeh, the lawyer, says conditional release for Babak Zanjani is possible

Babak Zanjani’s defense lawyer mentioned that given the announcement of the annulment of his client’s death sentence and its conversion to imprisonment, Babak Zanjani currently has the opportunity to benefit from conditional release.

Rasoul Kouhpaye Zadeh, regarding the latest status of Babak Zanjani’s case, stated that fortunately, according to the final verdict issued by the 38th branch of the Supreme Court, which explicitly stated that if Mr. Babak Zanjani can pay his debt, he is eligible to benefit from the regulations under Article 114 of the Islamic Penal Code. Considering that the related assets have been returned to the country and the debt has been completely settled, with the request of the Tehran Province Judiciary and the approval of the esteemed head of the judiciary and the leadership, the request for the client’s pardon was agreed upon, and the death penalty was reduced to 20 years of imprisonment.

Babak Zanjani’s defense lawyer continued, now considering that more than 10 years have passed since serving the prison sentence, according to the laws and regulations, the client is eligible to benefit from conditional release, and the period of imprisonment has been completed.
