Farzaneh Gharehhasanlou’s lawyer says my client has been banned from making calls and visits because of sending a New Year greeting message.
Mohsen Bayat, the lawyer of Farzaneh Gharehhasanlou, told Sharg Network that his client has been subjected to a two-week call ban and a three-month visitation ban because she released an audio New Year greeting from Mashhad prison.
In this audio file, Mrs. Gharehhasanlou mentioned that her children have been unfairly away from their parents for a year and a half and said that history has repeatedly shown that unjust suffering is liberating. Mrs. Gharehhasanlou also referred to her and her husband’s exile, stating that they are hundreds of kilometers away from each other and their children.
Mohsen Bayat has requested the judicial authorities to recognize this incorrect decision and to take action to rectify it and uphold his client’s rights.
Mr. Bayat also explains about Mrs. Gharehhasanlou’s health condition, stating that on January 10th, she was transferred to a hospital in Mashhad for surgery to remove a cancerous mass in her breast, but despite the explicit opinion of the forensic doctor, she was returned to prison after three days.
Mr. Bayat explains that although the forensic doctor had prescribed a two-month medical leave for Mrs. Gharehhasanlou, the correspondence between the Mashhad and Karaj prison officials took so long that they eventually said the two-month period given by the forensic doctor had expired and there was no longer a need for her to be granted leave.
