Lawyer Mohammad Mehdi Karami: The news of his execution is absolutely false

Mohammad Hossein Aghasi, an attorney, says the news about Mohammad Mehdi Karami stating that his execution was carried out on the morning of Tuesday, December 20, is absolutely false.

He wrote in a tweet that publishing such news severely distresses his family.

Mohammad Mehdi Karami has been accused of ‘corruption on earth’ and the court has sentenced him to death.

He is accused of killing Ruhollah Ajamian, a Basij member who was killed during the fortieth-day ceremony of Hadis Najafi.

His father, in an interview with the Etemad newspaper, said, ‘He called us on Wednesday and said, Dad, they have given us the verdicts. My sentence is death. My son was crying and said not to tell mom anything.’

Mr. Karami said the court-appointed lawyer for his son doesn’t even answer the phone.

In the case of Ruhollah Ajamian’s death, Ali Sharifzadeh Ardekani, the lawyer for one of the defendants, released details of severe torture inflicted on his client.
