Saeed Madani’s lawyer is investigating the reason for his client’s transfer to Damavand prison.

Mahmoud Behzadirad, Saeed Madani’s lawyer, told ILNA reporter about his client’s transfer to Damavand prison, saying that he met with Mr. Madani today. This morning, the prison authorities informed him that he might be transferred to another prison, and then I was told that the transfer was canceled. However, we found out that he has been transferred to Damavand prison.

He added that the transfer of a prisoner should be based on an exile order from the place of the crime or their residence, or at the request of the prisoner to be moved to the nearest place of residence. But Mr. Madani neither requested a transfer nor had an exile order, and we do not know under what authority he has been transferred to another prison.

He continued, saying that Mr. Madani himself was unaware of this; even this morning during our meeting, he did not know about it. I will follow up tomorrow to find out the reason for the transfer because it is against the prison regulations.

Saeed Madani, a sociologist and political activist, who was serving his 9-year sentence in Evin prison, has been exiled to Damavand prison today.
