Saman Yasin’s lawyer, Saeed Yasin, a Kurdish rapper, says that his death sentence has been reduced to 5 years of exile.

Hossein Sartipi wrote in a tweet that based on the issued verdict from Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, Mr. Saeedi has been sentenced to five years of exile to a city in Kerman province.

He added that he will object to the Supreme Court because he has been in temporary detention for over 18 months.

Saman Yasin, from Kermanshah, was arrested on October 2, 2022, during the nationwide protests in Tehran.

His case, which was previously sentenced to death on charges of waging war against the state and conspiring against national security, has been referred for reconsideration by the Supreme Court due to investigative deficiencies.

During his 18 months of detention, he was transferred to the psychiatric ward and hospitalized several times.
