During his presidency and the 2020 election campaign, Donald Trump shamelessly and without any hesitation used all his efforts to funnel money through his campaigns and Republican congressional and state candidates’ campaigns into his own accounts.
The campaign activities and Republican Party committee focused on holding events at Trump hotels and clubs, naturally leading to rental costs and hosting benefits for programs and parties going to Trump’s accounts.
Former party committee chair Ronna McDaniel did everything in her power to focus the party on using Trump’s institutions, hotels, and clubs to gain Trump’s approval. Financial reports from election campaigns and Trump organization filings have shown that this trend has intensified over the years. Senate Republican candidate Bernie Moreno in Ohio spent tens of thousands of dollars at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club before securing the party’s nomination and obtained Trump’s support for the party candidacy.
After that, Moreno presented several more events and payments of tens of thousands of dollars to Trump. Senate Republican candidate Kari Lake in Arizona has spent over a hundred thousand dollars at Trump’s institutions for various reasons.
Other candidates have also tried this strategy to attract Trump’s attention, but no candidate, other than Trump himself, has paid the most to Trump’s institutions. He has paid over 28 million dollars from his campaign accounts to his own institutions.
Election programs hosted by Trump’s institutions have been billed to his own campaign account. Renting a private plane for the election is just one of the insignificant expenses he has made money from.
