Letter from the Independent Association of Psychology to Ghalibaf: The entry of seminary students into the field of psychology will have negative consequences

The Independent Association of Health Psychology of Iran wrote a letter to Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf regarding the reasons for opposing the management of the country’s seminaries concerning counseling with a religious and Islamic approach.

Even if seminary students receive psychology and counseling training at seminary centers in the best conditions and with the standards of the Ministry of Science and Health, they are still just an educational center. The fact that an educational center simultaneously issues licenses leads to a role conflict and has numerous negative consequences, both for the clients and even for the seminary itself. Therefore, to prevent the negative effects of this plan on the community of clients and also on the seminaries, we kindly request that you do not approve the mentioned plan.
