A member of parliament says lifting sanctions on the IRGC is one of Iran’s priorities and hasn’t been sidelined in the JCPOA revival talks.
Fadahossein Maleki, a member of the National Security Commission, stated that nowhere in the world is a country’s military force, which is also mentioned in the constitution, sanctioned, and such an action does not exist in international norms.
He added that the sanctioning of the IRGC by the United States is a big mistake, although from day one, the Islamic Republic of Iran has informed the opposing party that it is against this action.
Maleki emphasized that by proposing sanctions on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the United States was pursuing other issues, which Iran thwarted. Certainly, during the negotiations, Iran will not allow the continuation of sanctions on the IRGC. Lifting these sanctions remains a priority for Iran in the talks, although the IRGC will continue to perform its duties as mandated by the constitution and will not pay attention to its own sanctioning.
