Maduro of Venezuela does not accept a peaceful surrender with the USA

Nicolás Maduro, the President of Venezuela, told his supporters at a rally in Caracas that his country does not want a peaceful surrender with the United States.

Mr. Maduro is under increasing pressure from Donald Trump, the President of the United States.

The United States has dispatched a naval fleet to the Caribbean to target what Washington calls Mr. Maduro’s drug trafficking operations.

Since September, the US has carried out a series of deadly attacks on suspicious boats in international waters, which have resulted in more than 80 deaths so far.

On Sunday, Mr. Trump said he spoke with Mr. Maduro but did not provide further details about the conversation.
