Marco Rubio says if Iran intends to produce electricity from a nuclear power plant, it should import enriched uranium.

The U.S. Secretary of State says if Iran wants a nuclear power plant to generate electricity, it can build a reactor and import enriched uranium for its fuel from abroad.

Marco Rubio made these remarks on Thursday night, May 1st, during an interview with the Hannity program on Fox News.

He said if Iran desires a peaceful civilian nuclear program, meaning nuclear power plants like other countries in the world, there is a way to achieve it.

And that is by building reactors and importing enriched uranium for the fuel of those reactors.

The U.S. Secretary of State emphasized that dozens of countries around the world do this and added that the only countries in the world that enrich uranium are those that have nuclear weapons.

According to Mr. Rubio, Iran claims it is not pursuing nuclear weapons but wants to.

What Iran essentially wants is to be the only non-nuclear weapon country in the world that enriches uranium.
