Mahya Vahedi, an active social activist in the field of women and children, has been arrested.
This news was published by Meysam Vahedi, Mahya Vahedi’s brother, on his Twitter account. He wrote that his sister was arrested at her workplace without any explanation on Monday, January 15th, and her electronic devices were confiscated.
Mahya Vahedi had been voluntarily collaborating with the Imam Ali Society for several years before its dissolution. She was responsible for one of the Iranian Society’s houses in Darvazeh Ghar, Tehran, and was involved in the Society’s activities in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
The Imam Ali Society, which had been active for the past twenty years in helping impoverished children and families with over ten thousand members, was dissolved a few days ago under the orders of Iranian judicial authorities. The Imam Ali Society claims that more than six thousand children were under its care.
