Minister of Communications: Iranian-made modems cannot have high speed

1 Min Read

The Minister of Communications says that modems produced in Iran cannot have high speeds.

Isa Zarepour, regarding the recent statements of the manager of one of the internet operators who attributed network issues to the use of domestically produced modems, was asked if he considered this an excuse by operators to import cheap and used Chinese modems and what actions have been taken to support domestic production. He said the discussion raised by the manager is about fiber optic modems, which only have 400 to 500 thousand subscribers.

He continued, saying that the issue raised by the operator’s manager is not widespread and reflects his personal concerns. On the other hand, domestically produced modems do not have the capabilities to support high speeds.

He explained that some domestically produced modems do not support certain frequencies, but now it is in the production plan of the company or modem manufacturer. We need to pay attention to domestic production while ensuring that the products manufactured have quality and capabilities that meet the users’ needs.
