The Minister of Culture claims fifty million people are members of domestic social networks.

The Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance claimed that following the events of last year, a task force was formed to facilitate people’s migration to domestic networks, considering the threats and risks of foreign social networks. We were somewhat successful, as now nearly fifty million Iranians are members of new social networks.

He stated that prior to this, seventy percent of internet consumption at the beginning of September 2022 was related to foreign social networks and thirty-five percent to domestic ones. However, with the migration plan, we improved these figures. For example, in the Azan app, even movies and series are now uploaded.

Esmaili added that in the Film Screening Council of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, a hundred films request permits annually, and there are strict regulations. However, the latest foreign films are available to everyone with minimal censorship, and any censorship is applied after they are uploaded and viewed.
