Minister of Culture’s reaction to Mohammad Rasoulof’s film ‘The Sacred Fig’ – We will deal with underground film production

In a gathering with journalists, the Minister of Culture spoke about the production of underground films and the entry of Mohammad Rasoulof’s film ‘The Sacred Fig’ to Cannes, saying this is a clear violation. He also mentioned that the book fair on Friday was so crowded that they were concerned about the usual movement of people.

In response to a question about the production of films without the Ministry of Culture’s permission and underground in Iran, and their participation in foreign festivals, he said that the production and distribution of such films is against the law. Wherever we become aware of it, we will stop it. Both we and the legal institutions responsible for it will act. These are disturbing violations that the film community suffers from more than others. In the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, we see ourselves as regulators and guardians of the law, and we protect these legal boundaries well. We advise everyone who engages in activities outside the law to operate within the legal framework.
