Minister of Interior Begins Registration of Presidential Candidates for Election

The registration of presidential candidates has begun by the Minister of Interior.

Ahmad Vahidi, the Minister of Interior of Iran, announced that the registration of presidential candidates has started today and will continue for five days.

The fourteenth presidential election in Iran will be held earlier than scheduled due to the death of Ebrahim Raisi. Mr. Raisi was killed in a helicopter crash on May 20th.

According to the Constitution of the Islamic Republic, in case of the President’s death, a new presidential election must be held within 50 days.

The registration of presidential candidates will continue until June 4th, and then the Guardian Council will have 7 days to review the qualifications.

According to the schedule announced by the Ministry of Interior of Iran, the final list of qualified candidates will be announced on June 12th.

After that, the qualified candidates will have 15 days for the election campaign, and the fourteenth presidential election in Iran will be held on July 29th.
