Ministry of Interior: Thousands of Medical Professionals Arrested for Terrorist Activities

The Ministry of Interior has announced that a number of terrorist elements involved in the assassination campaign have been arrested.

Majid Mirahmadi, the security deputy of the Minister of Interior and the head of the Security Committee of the Election Headquarters, stated that the Ministry of Intelligence has arrested some of the terrorist elements sent to the country before the start of the elections.

According to Iranian media reports, Mr. Mirahmadi, without mentioning Masoud Pezeshkian, said that one of their actions was to call for a presence in 1000 squares in the name of a candidate’s supporters, which took place without their knowledge for a victory celebration and faced failure due to the lack of people’s support.

Masoud Pezeshkian’s election campaign, on the last day of the advertising deadline and after the cancellation of his supporters’ election gathering at Heydarinia Stadium in Tehran, had asked his supporters to go to the main squares of Iranian cities on Thursday, July 6, in the form of a campaign called ‘A Thousand Squares’ for advertising and direct dialogue with the people. The advertising of this campaign was published on the official channels and platforms of Masoud Pezeshkian’s election headquarters.

Hamideh Zarabadi, the spokesperson of Masoud Pezeshkian’s election headquarters, wrote on the X network protesting the cancellation of the election rally at Heydarneya Stadium, asking under which law the governorate issues a permit and the Ministry of Interior cancels it. These are examples of power for consensus-building or maybe not allowing room for dissent. I don’t think you should become the president. In the meantime, he posted posters and information related to the Hazar Meydan campaign in another position.

Activists of Mr. Pezeshkian’s election headquarters released videos of supporters in Tehran, Mashhad, Rasht, and various parts of Iran on the streets. In some of them, slogans like ‘Hossein Mir-Hossein’ and ‘Long live Khatami’ were chanted.
