Mohammad Fazeli, a sociologist, tweeted in criticism of official policies in response to recent protests, saying: These days, the smell of violence, the sound of wailing, shouting, orders, and many things fill the air. But above all, it is the smell of political despair that is most noticeable. No non-violent political thought or tool rises above this conflict to remedy the despair of politics. Official policy has become sterile and ineffective, confused and bewildered.
