Mohammad Hosseini, the Parliamentary Deputy of the Saudi Foreign Minister, welcomed multiple sessions with Iran.
Mohammad Hosseini, the Parliamentary Deputy of the government, stated that during his trip to Brazil, he had an extensive meeting with the Saudi Foreign Minister and discussed the resumption of negotiations between the two countries.
According to Tasnim News Agency, he mentioned that the main topic of this meeting was the outcome of the talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia, which were initiated with Iraq’s mediation, and added that the Saudi side expressed its readiness to resume negotiations.
After an attack on Saudi diplomatic centers in Iran and setting them on fire in January 2016, Saudi Arabia cut diplomatic relations with Iran.
In recent years, there have been reports of Iraq mediating for reconciliation between the two governments, but it has not yet led to the re-establishment of relations.
According to Mr. Hosseini, the Saudi Foreign Minister welcomed holding multiple sessions to address points of contention and concerns to ultimately reach a conclusion, adding that the Foreign Ministry is pursuing this matter.
The Iranian Parliamentary Deputy and the Saudi delegation traveled to that country to attend the inauguration ceremony of Inácio Lula da Silva.
