Mohammad Hosseini, the Parliamentary Deputy of the Saudi Foreign Minister, welcomed multiple meetings with Iran.
Mohammad Hosseini, the Parliamentary Deputy of the government, stated that during his trip to Brazil, he had an extensive meeting with the Saudi Foreign Minister, discussing and exchanging views on the resumption of negotiations between the two countries.
According to Tasnim News Agency, he stated that the main topic of this meeting was to determine the outcome of the talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia, which began with Iraq’s mediation, and added that the Saudi side expressed its readiness to resume negotiations.
After some individuals attacked Saudi diplomatic centers in Iran and set them on fire in January 2016, Saudi Arabia cut its diplomatic relations with Iran.
In recent years, there have been reports of Iraq’s mediation for reconciliation between the governments of the two countries, but so far it has not led to the restoration of relations.
According to Mr. Hosseini, the Saudi Foreign Minister welcomed the idea of holding multiple sessions to examine the differences and concerns so that eventually a conclusion could be reached, and added that the Foreign Ministry is pursuing this matter.
The Parliamentary Deputy of the Iranian government and the Saudi delegation had traveled to that country to attend the inauguration ceremony of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
