Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi: Let’s Not Create a Dichotomy with the Arbaeen Pilgrimage
Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi, the Minister of Communications under Rouhani’s administration, praised the government’s action of closing the Iraq border to protect the safety of pilgrims in his Telegram channel. He wrote:
It should not be the case that if today’s officials, who were yesterday’s critics and would indiscriminately use any issue as a lever to attack the government of the time, serve as a reason for repeating that wrong behavior.
I extend my gratitude to all those who strive to serve the pilgrims of Aba Abdullah, in whatever capacity they are. The decision that the conditions were not adequately prepared for the presence of Iranian pilgrims and that they were sent back to avoid putting their lives at risk is commendable.
Although some of our concerned Iraqi brothers had previously warned about these issues and they were not given enough attention, in any case, it was a valuable experience for the coming years.
