Mohammad Reza Bahonar, a member of the Expediency Discernment Council, said the era of running the country with filtering and mandatory hijab is over.
Mohammad Reza Bahonar, former Vice Speaker of the Parliament, and Ali Shakouri-Rad, a former member of the Sixth Parliament and former Secretary-General of the Union of Islamic Iran People Party, discussed the future of the Islamic Republic and the possibility of a paradigm shift in a conversation.
In this conversation, Bahonar referred to filtering and the hijab law, saying it is truly astonishing and even somewhat laughable that in our country, there are still laws that prohibit and sometimes even declare the use of video or satellite as forbidden.
He also emphasized that instead of embracing new technologies and utilizing them positively, we think that by banning and restricting, we can solve issues.
But the reality is that such approaches lead nowhere; VPNs and similar tools have made it so the era of governing society with filtering has come to an end.
