Mohammad Taghi Akbarnejad, a critical cleric, was released on bail.

Mohammad Taghi Akbarnejad, a cleric critical of Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, who was arrested on February 17th, said in an audio message published on social networks that he has been released from prison on bail.

Previously, in a phone call from Qom prison, which was released as an audio file on social networks, he reported that a case was being fabricated against him and that he was being kept in solitary confinement for forced confessions.

Before Mr. Akbarnejad was arrested, videos of him had repeatedly been published on social networks in which he openly criticized the leadership and government, calling for addressing injustices and the situation of people in Iran before attending to the oppressed in other countries.
