In this interview, Hashemi pointed to the social divides and polarizations existing in society, including the public’s joy over the national team’s loss in the Qatar World Cup, stating that such rifts have never been seen in any period of Iran’s history.
He described the efforts of political and religious elites, reformist political parties, journalists, and renowned speakers to help the Islamic Republic out of this deadlock as lacking decisive impact.
