Nika Shakermi’s mother, a moral security police officer, arrested her daughter for not wearing compulsory hijab.

Nasrin Shakermi, the mother of Nika Shakermi, one of the fatalities of the nationwide protests in 2022 in Iran, wrote on Instagram that the moral security police in Tehran had arrested her daughter Aida for not wearing compulsory hijab.

According to Mrs. Shakermi, her daughter is still in detention.

Nika Shakermi, a 16-year-old protester, went missing after participating in the first protests in Keshavarz Boulevard, Tehran, in September 2022, and her family was called to the morgue after ten days of uncertainty to identify her.

Nika was buried in the absence of her family and in a location other than the one intended by her family.

On Saturday, 25th of Farvardin, the ‘Noor Plan’ to combat what the Iranian government calls the fight against unveiled women began.

Since then, numerous images, accounts, and reports of violent police confrontations, beatings, and arrests of women over the hijab issue have been published.
