Mr. Rasoul addressing Raisi: Where are you?

Rasoul Khadem, the former head of the Iranian Wrestling Federation, criticized Ebrahim Raisi on his Instagram for standing by and leaving everything in the hands of the security sector amidst the protests.

Mr. Khadem, who frequently takes a stand on issues in Iranian society on his Instagram, wrote in his new post referring to the people’s protests: ‘Mr. President, it seems like you haven’t been around for a few days. In fact, it’s better to ask where exactly you are. Where do you stand in the story of the people’s protests that you have so easily relieved yourself and your government by handing everything over to the security sector?’

A group of observers inside Iran, some of whom are close to the government, say that the harsh suppression of protesters and the extreme stances of some officials and figures during the protests have led to polarization and a rift between the people and the government.
