Nadereh Rezaei was removed from the Deputy of Arts position.
Nadereh Rezaei, the former Deputy of Arts at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, was dismissed a week after 170 representatives wrote a letter about her destructive performance.
The harsh criticism from these representatives, who demanded Ms. Rezaei’s removal, was related to a video where she apologized to the public following the cancellation of Homayoun Shajarian’s street concert at Azadi Square in Tehran.
After the announcement of Ms. Rezaei’s dismissal, journalist Ahmad Zeidabadi wrote that governments, especially those inclined towards reformism or moderation, tend to enthusiastically invite some different figures to collaborate as soon as they come to power, promising them that the situation is on the verge of change.
However, after some time, as soon as a minister or deputy steps slightly beyond the fossilized frameworks, they are either dismissed or see resignation as the best option.
Nadereh Rezaei was the first senior female manager at the Ministry of Guidance, and many artists supported her.
With the order of the Minister of Guidance, Mohammad Mehdi Ahmadi has been appointed as the new acting head of this deputy position.
